Last Sunday, Penske Porsche Motorsport celebrated victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona, one of the legendary endurance races. Next June, the team will compete in the biggest one, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and does not hide that it dreams of another triumph.

The factory competition director of Porsche Motorsport, Urs Kuratle, stated to Motorsport.com after the success in the inaugural round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship, when asked if there is more pressure to win at Le Mans:

– The good thing is that we know the car is capable, I think we showed very impressively that all four cars completed the race without major technical issues, that helps us a lot. But it is also no secret that we are not yet completely there, there is still a lot to do for Le Mans and all the other races.

On Penske’s part, owner Roger Penske stated to IMSA Radio: ‘This is one of the biggest victories we’ve had [in Daytona], now we have to go after the big one in Le Mans, you know that.’

Currently, Porsche is the manufacturer with the most victories in Le Mans, a total of 19. The last one was in 2017, when it ended its LMP1 project with the 919 Hybrid, which triumphed three times.
