In a segment where luxury is often associated with chrome, shiny surfaces, and light interiors, Hyundai has chosen a different path. The new Black Ink Edition of the Ioniq 9 does exactly the opposite: it eliminates shine, reduces contrast, and bets on a completely darkened look to redefine the image of its top electric SUV.
The result is a model that does not try to attract attention through excess, but rather through restraint.
A top-of-the-line model with a different attitude
The new version of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 positions itself at the top of the range, based on the already well-known Performance Calligraphy configuration. But more than just adding equipment, this special edition seeks to change the perception of the model.
The name may be long — Performance Calligraphy Black Ink Edition — but the idea is simple: to create a more discreet, more sophisticated, and at the same time, more aggressive presence.

An exterior where everything disappears… in black
Visually, the transformation is total.
The only available color is Abyss Black Pearl, applied to almost all exterior elements. Hyundai has eliminated any visual contrast, replacing chrome details with black or glossy black finishes.
The result is an SUV that looks sculpted in a single tone, where elements such as roof rails, window frames, emblems, and even the interior handles merge into the same aesthetic language.
The 21-inch wheels, exclusive to this version, help reinforce that identity, giving the overall look a more technical and less decorative air.
An interior that follows the same philosophy
If the exterior is restrained, the interior does not deviate from this rule.
Everything is black — literally. Seats, steering wheel, controls, surfaces, and even the screens are integrated into a monochromatic environment that prioritizes visual uniformity.
But there is evident care in the execution. The darkened aluminum finishes and higher-quality materials prevent the space from appearing simple or basic. On the contrary, they create an atmosphere closer to a modern lounge than to a traditional SUV.

Complete equipment without compromises
Despite the minimalist aesthetic approach, this version does not compromise on content.
Based on the most equipped variant of the range, it includes practically everything that Hyundai offers in this model. Among the highlights are the head-up display, the remote parking system, and details such as microfiber upholstery on the ceiling and pillars.
It is a family SUV, but clearly designed for a customer who values comfort and technology equally.
Performance that matches the image
Underneath this discreet aesthetic, the Ioniq 9 maintains its known mechanical base.
The dual-motor all-wheel drive configuration delivers 422 hp and allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4.4 seconds. These are numbers that, a few years ago, would have been unthinkable in an SUV of this size and family-oriented purpose.
The 110 kWh battery ensures a range of around 500 km, depending on conditions, which places the model within the current standards of the segment.
A well-known strategy
This is not the first time that Hyundai has invested in “black edition” versions. Models like the Ioniq 6 or the Palisade have already received similar treatments.
But in the case of the Ioniq 9, the effect seems more striking. Perhaps because the model itself already has a strong presence, or perhaps because the segment it occupies tends to follow more traditional visual codes.

A family SUV that wants to be different
The Ioniq 9 Black Ink Edition does not attempt to reinvent the product. It maintains the technical base, interior space, and family-oriented proposal. What changes is the way it presents itself.
And, in an increasingly homogeneous market, that difference may be enough to stand out.
