Audi arranca com a produção da nova geração de motores elétricos a estrear no Q6 e-tron

Audi has announced the start of production of the new generation of electric engines that will be used in the Audi Q6 e-tron, with production scheduled to begin at the end of the year at the Ingolstadt factory in Germany.

The new engines for the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), for electric vehicles, are produced at the Győr factory in Hungary, where the brand has installed three new production lines involving around 700 employees who produce up to 2,000 electric motors per day.

“The start of production in Győr represents an important milestone in the start of production of the Audi Q6 e-tron,” emphasized Gerd Walker, member of the Audi Board of Management for Production and Logistics.

In addition to the engines for the PPE that will bring the Audi Q6 e-tron to life, the Győr factory is also responsible for the electric units that equip the Audi Q8 e-tron.

It should be noted that the 100% electric SUV, Q6 e-tron, expected in the market in 2024, is based on the new PPE platform, developed in collaboration with Porsche, and aims to rival proposals such as the Tesla Model Y.

The new PPE platform, the same one that will be used by the future Porsche Macan, which is also fully electric, allows the interior of the new SUV to be, according to the brand with the four rings, “generously more spacious and versatile.” For example, the interior has many storage spaces and compartments: the center console has two cup holders, a compartment for charging mobile phones, and two charging ports for smartphones; and, as is characteristic of an electric car without a central transmission tunnel, there will be a more generous extra legroom space than usual, which will provide greater comfort to the occupants of the rear seat.

The trunk has a capacity of 526 liters, which can increase up to a maximum of 1529 when the rear seat (foldable in a 40/20/40 proportion) is fully folded, to which must be added the additional 64 liters offered by the storage space under the front hood.
