After becoming champion, Kalle Rovanperä will face the Rally of Japan next week – the last round of the World Rally Championship (WRC), in which the titles are already mathematically decided.
The Finnish driver still has ambition, especially at his team’s home – Toyota – as he pointed out: ‘Last year we didn’t have the best performance there, but I really want to improve this time. It’s a home rally for the team and we all want to achieve a better result. It’s a busy week for a Toyota driver, but without pressure around the championship, I think we can enjoy this rally a little more and I hope we can achieve a good result’.
Rovanperä also stated: ‘I always enjoy going to Japan and it will be nice to return already having secured the title, just like last year. The stages of the Rally of Japan are very demanding and the roads may not suit me as well as in other asphalt rallies’.
