Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) is set to end its technical alliance with Andretti Technologies at the conclusion of the current IndyCar season, as it prepares to enter a new partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing. This shift marks the conclusion of a collaboration that began in 2017, when MSR first entered IndyCar with Andretti’s support.
Andretti Global COO Rob Edwards recently discussed the end of this partnership, expressing that the close and transparent relationship with MSR has been unique. With MSR moving to Ganassi, which also runs Honda engines, the decision aligns with MSR’s desire to continue receiving technical support from a Honda-powered team.
Edwards also addressed speculation about Andretti potentially switching engine suppliers from Honda to Chevrolet, categorically denying these rumors. He emphasized that Andretti remains committed to Honda and, as a result, the pool of potential technical partners is limited. As of now, there are no immediate plans for Andretti to seek out a new technical alliance, although Edwards did not rule out the possibility of forming a partnership in the future if the right opportunity arises.
The departure of MSR and the uncertainty surrounding a new alliance leaves Andretti without a technical partner for the short term, signaling a period of transition for the team as it continues to navigate the evolving landscape of IndyCar.
