Fred Vasseur Reflects on the Passion and Privilege of Leading Ferrari in Formula 1

Fred Vasseur, who took over as Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari in 2023, has expressed his deep love for his role at the iconic Italian team. Replacing Mattia Binotto, the Frenchman has been instrumental in making significant changes within the team in a bid to return Ferrari to its winning ways. And it’s clear that Vasseur is relishing the opportunity to lead Maranello’s prized racing outfit.

Vasseur emphasized that Ferrari is a team brimming with passion, something he finds incredibly satisfying. He noted that the atmosphere at Maranello is unique, with everyone deeply committed to the success of the Prancing Horse. The Frenchman also pointed out that Italians, in general, are much better at expressing their emotions compared to their Anglo-Saxon counterparts, a nod to the fact that seven of the ten Formula 1 teams are based in the UK.

Managing a team full of emotion and passion is something Vasseur deeply appreciates, especially after previously heading the Sauber-run Alfa Romeo F1 team in Switzerland. He proudly declared that leading Scuderia Ferrari is the “most beautiful job in the world,” an opportunity he simply couldn’t pass up.

However, Vasseur revealed that before taking on the role, he consulted with his wife, recognizing that relocating to Italy represented a significant shift for his family. He stressed the importance of this move, not just professionally but also personally, ensuring that his family was on board with the decision.

Despite some challenges faced by Ferrari in recent weeks, Vasseur and his family have been enjoying their time in Maranello. The Italian team showed promising progress at the start of the season, and while there have been some tough races, Vasseur is determined to steer Ferrari back to victory after the summer break.

Leading Ferrari is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious roles in motorsport, and Fred Vasseur’s passion and dedication to the job are evident as he works tirelessly to restore Ferrari’s glory in Formula 1.
