Frédéric Vasseur has praised Sainz for his impressive performance during the first half of the 2024 season

Carlos Sainz will don the blue and white of the Williams Formula 1 team starting in 2025, marking a significant shift in his career after being left as one of the most high-profile casualties of the 2025 driver market. Ferrari’s surprising decision to sign Lewis Hamilton for next season caught Sainz—and much of the F1 paddock—off guard, leaving him searching for a new seat.

With limited options available, Sainz eventually secured a deal with Williams, a team currently rebuilding its way up the grid. Despite the change in circumstances, Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur has praised Sainz for his impressive performance during the first half of the 2024 season, which included a sensational victory at the Australian Grand Prix.

While Sainz has come to terms with leaving the iconic red of Ferrari behind, he remains confident in his abilities, even believing he is more than a match for seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who will be stepping into his shoes at Ferrari. This bold assertion reflects the 29-year-old Spaniard’s determination to continue proving himself, even as he prepares to adjust to life in the F1 midfield with Williams.

Sainz’s move to Williams marks a new chapter in his career, one that will likely see him fighting in a different arena compared to his time at Ferrari. With his experience and skill, it will be intriguing to watch how Sainz adapts and leads the historic team back toward competitiveness on the Formula 1 grid.
