Rumours have been circulating about Osaka’s desire to host the Japanese Grand Prix, but it seems that those plans will have to be put on hold. Formula 1 made an announcement on Friday, revealing that they have extended their contract with Suzuka. This iconic circuit, which is a favorite among drivers, will remain on the F1 calendar until at least 2029.

The previous contract was set to expire after the upcoming Grand Prix in April. Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1, expressed his delight at the news, stating, “Suzuka is a special circuit and part of the fabric of the sport, so I am delighted that F1 will continue to race there until at least 2029.

As Formula 1 prepares to return to Japan earlier than usual this season, Domenicali also expressed his gratitude to the promoter and team at Honda MobilityLand for their support in making the sport more sustainable. He acknowledged the unique passion that Japanese fans have for Formula 1 and emphasized their commitment to providing fans with the experience they deserve.

Tsuyoshi Saito, CEO of Honda Mobilityland Corporation, echoed Domenicali’s sentiments and expressed his pleasure at the continuation of the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit. He thanked Domenicali and other Formula 1 members for their support and emphasized their goal of creating a sustainable future.

Saito also highlighted that the upcoming 2024 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix in April will be the first time the event is held in the spring season. He expressed their commitment to working with local communities and government agencies to ensure that Suzuka remains beloved by fans worldwide and contributes to the growth of motorsports culture and industry.
