Polestar has announced the start of production of its luxury SUV, Polestar 3, in South Carolina, USA, making it the first model from the Swedish brand to be produced on two continents.
The North American production facility will produce units of the Polestar 3 for the US and European markets, complementing the existing production in Chengdu, China.
“The production of the Polestar 3 in the US is a crucial step for us. We now offer American customers an electric SUV that is built in America. Exporting the Polestar 3 produced in South Carolina to Europe will strengthen our business on a broader scale,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.
The start of production of the Polestar 3 in the United States comes at a time when the brand is working to further diversify its production, having announced that production of the Polestar 4 is planned to begin in South Korea from mid-2025.
Recall that the Polestar 3 is the first SUV from the Swedish brand for the electric era, featuring a minimalist and Scandinavian purity image associated with the details of a sport utility vehicle, with a wide range of technology.
