Renault has just strengthened the Clio range with a new engine that promises to address one of the biggest concerns of today’s drivers: reducing usage costs without compromising versatility. The new Eco-G 120 hp with EDC automatic transmission emerges as a strategic proposal, combining bi-fuel technology, high autonomy, and comfortable driving.
A more versatile and economical Clio
The Renault Clio now features the new Eco-G 120 engine, a solution that works with gasoline and LPG, allowing the driver to switch between the two fuels.
The big advantage lies in economic efficiency: LPG has a significantly lower average cost—about half the price of gasoline or diesel—making this option particularly appealing for those who cover many kilometers.

Impressive autonomy for the segment
Thanks to the bi-fuel configuration and the two independent tanks, the Clio Eco-G 120 can achieve a total autonomy of up to 1,450 km.
This figure results from the combination of:
- 39-liter gasoline tank
- increased LPG tank to 50 liters
A strong argument in a segment where range continues to be a decisive factor.
More power and better response
Compared to the previous generation (Eco-G 100), this new engine features significant improvements:
- power of 120 hp (+20 hp)
- torque of 200 Nm (+30 Nm)
The engine is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo block, developed to offer a balance between performance and efficiency.

EDC automatic transmission enhances comfort
One of the major innovations is the introduction of the dual-clutch automatic transmission (EDC), which allows:
- quick and smooth shifts
- absence of binary losses
- greater comfort in urban driving and on trips
For those seeking greater control, paddle shifters are available on the steering wheel for manual use.
Competitive consumption and emissions
The Clio Eco-G 120 presents balanced values:
- LPG: 6.5 l/100 km and emissions starting from 106 g/km
- Gasoline: 5.4 l/100 km and 122 g/km
In LPG mode, emissions are about 10% lower compared to an equivalent gasoline engine.
Mature and reliable technology
Renault emphasizes that the Eco-G system is based on over 15 years of experience in developing LPG solutions.
The system is factory-installed and was specifically designed for this type of fuel, ensuring:
- reliability
- robustness
- full integration in the vehicle
Diverse range for different profiles
With this new engine, the Clio now offers a complete range:
- Eco-G 120 EDC (LPG) – from €23,490
- TCe 115 (petrol) – from €21,990
- E-Tech full hybrid 160 hp – from €28,990
Orders now with a set date
Orders for the new Clio Eco-G 120 open on April 22, with the first deliveries expected in the summer.
An intelligent alternative in the current market
In a scenario where fuel costs continue to be a concern, the Clio Eco-G 120 positions itself as a pragmatic alternative:
- more economical than petrol/diesel
- more flexible than hybrids in certain uses
- simpler than electrified solutions
