Joey Logano is uncertain about the trial run of the new format at the Richmond cup race

The NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond ended in controversy as Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon triumphed over Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin to secure both the victory and a spot in the playoffs. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Dillon, who was ranked 32nd in the points table, did just that to claim his first win in two years.

In the final corner of overtime, Austin Dillon wrecked both Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin on his way to victory. Both seasoned drivers were furious with the actions of the No. 3 Chevy driver, and they expressed their opinions in post-race interviews. While Hamlin kept his comments civil, Logano held nothing back with his choice of words.

Joey Logano expressed his belief that the Chevy driver intentionally caused the wrecks and knew that the only way to win was to take out both the No. 22 and No. 11 cars. He referred to the RCR driver as a “terrible person” for racing in such a manner when Logano had raced fairly. Logano also stated that Dillon had been terrible throughout his entire career in the top stock car racing series.

In his post-race interview, Dillon kept things simple and approached the situation with a positive mindset. He acknowledged that his contact with Logano was intentional, but claimed that wrecking Hamlin was more of a reaction. Dillon asserted that it happened because Hamlin suddenly crossed his path.

The former Xfinity Series champion took a risk, and it paid off for him. However, now is the time for him to reflect on his actions and be prepared for the consequences both on and off the track. It will be interesting to see how this saga unfolds in the years to come.
