Those who follow the “restomod” phenomenon, the restoration of classic cars with modern technologies, will already be familiar with the name Theon Design, a company that showcased its first project this year, based on a Porsche 911 from the 964 generation (1989-1993), from which it has just developed a new version.
Codenamed GBR002, Theon Design’s 911 combines the air-cooled 4.0-liter six-cylinder Boxer engine, which gained 12 hp and 15 Nm, for a maximum output of 412 hp at 7200 rpm and 442 Nm at 5800 rpm (resulting in 100 hp/liter of specific power), with a new six-speed manual gearbox from Hewland. The lightweight carbon fiber bodywork is another key factor to consider, as Theon Design managed to reduce the weight of the original sports car by 200 kg, with this GBR002 weighing only 1169 kg on the scale.
Among the specific elements, also worth mentioning are the adoption of 18″ Fuchs-style wheels, the TracTive damping system with five levels of adjustment, and the Torsen-type limited-slip differential. Being a “restomod,” it also includes Bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging system for smartphones.
