Zak Brown acknowledges McLaren’s bid for the Constructors’ Championship relies on Sergio Perez

Zak Brown’s McLaren is on the verge of securing their ninth constructors championship, thanks to the decline in performance from rival team, Sergio Perez. The recent races have seen McLaren drivers consistently achieving podium finishes and even wins, which has significantly closed the gap in the Constructors championship. On the other hand, Red Bull, who were initially strong, have faltered due to Perez’s slump in performance. The outcome of the championship now heavily relies on how Perez performs in the upcoming races, as it will determine the narrowing gap between McLaren and Red Bull.

In a recent interview, McLaren CEO Zak Brown openly acknowledged that the fate of McLaren’s Constructors’ title rests on Sergio Perez’s upcoming performances. Brown believes that the battle with Red Bull will continue until the final race in Abu Dhabi. He emphasized the challenging nature of this fight, considering that both teams have closely matched performance. Ultimately, the constructor’s championship will be decided by a slim margin between the two teams.

Brown emphasized that the championship outcome largely hinges on Perez’s performance for Red Bull. He stated that if Perez competes at his best, the title fight will be incredibly close. However, if Perez continues to perform at his current level, McLaren stands a strong chance of winning. This is due to the consistent front-running performances of McLaren’s two drivers, which gives them a competitive advantage.

Zak Brown admitted that he was pleasantly surprised by McLaren’s progress, considering the significant advantage Red Bull held over other teams, as well as the strength of Mercedes. Brown expected McLaren to gradually close the gap, but he did not anticipate being so close to taking the lead in the championship just before the summer break. McLaren’s position, being only one race away from the lead, exceeded his expectations.

In conclusion, Zak Brown expressed his disbelief at McLaren’s level of dominance and their ability to challenge Red Bull. However, they have managed to do so and are now within striking distance of taking the lead. Fans are hopeful that McLaren will start the second half of the season strongly and not let the lead slip away after achieving it.
