Alexander Rossi has been given the green light by IndyCar Medical to resume driving his No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet for the remainder of the season. This approval follows the veteran’s injury to his right thumb during a practice crash at the Toronto street race held from July 19-21. Rossi will have four race weekends and a total of five races to complete with the Arrow McLaren team. His return will commence at the oval race at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois from August 15-17. After that, he will make way for Christian Lundgaard from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, who will take over starting in 2025.
Before his accident in Toronto, Rossi was performing well in the Driver’s championship, holding eighth place. This position marked his strongest performance since 2019, as he consistently finished ninth or tenth from 2020-2023. Unfortunately, missing the Toronto race caused him to slip back to ninth place in the standings. However, with Rossi’s exceptional skills on ovals and four upcoming oval races, he has the opportunity to end his tenure with Arrow McLaren on a high note. The races at WWTR, Portland, Milwaukee (which includes a doubleheader), and Nashville will provide numerous chances for him to climb up the points ladder.
