Florida is parting ways with their NIL director. The university has reportedly decided to separate from NIL director Marcus Castro-Walker, according to Zach Abolverdi of Gators Online. Stewart Mandel of The Athletic has provided an update on the situation.

“Sources interviewed by the NCAA told The Athletic last month that Walker was one of the subjects of their investigation into Florida re: Jaden Rashada recruitment,” Mandel wrote.

Castro-Walker has been involved in the investigation surrounding Florida football’s recruitment of quarterback Jaden Rashada. Ultimately, Rashada chose to commit to Arizona State instead of Florida.

Rashada had previously agreed to an NIL deal with the Gator Collective. Unfortunately, his NIL deal was not properly honored by the Gator Collective, leading Rashada to back out of his commitment to Florida.

Steve McClain, a spokesperson for Florida, previously issued a statement to ESPN. McClain stated, “We have been and will continue to cooperate with the NCAA. We hold ourselves to high standards of excellence and integrity on and off the field. Because we follow NCAA policies about maintaining confidentiality, we are unable to offer additional comments.”

As a result of these events, Florida has decided to part ways with Marcus Castro-Walker. Additionally, the Gator Collective, which was not affiliated with the university, is no longer in existence.

Florida is determined to move forward from this situation and ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future. The university understands the importance of securing top talent, and they are committed to building a successful program both on and off the field.
