Vowles: Sainz reveals duration of Williams F1 contract

Carlos Sainz has agreed to join Williams on a long-term contract starting in 2025. James Vowles, the boss of Williams Formula 1, revealed that it was Sainz himself who decided to disclose the exact length of his contract with the team. Williams recently announced that they had won the competition to sign Sainz, beating out Alpine and the Sauber/Audi venture. Despite hoping to continue at the top of the sport, Sainz’s options were limited as Red Bull and Mercedes were not viable options. After careful consideration, Sainz has chosen to commit his future to Williams under the guidance of Vowles. While it has become common for teams to keep contract lengths private, Williams has stated that Sainz has signed a deal until 2026. Vowles emphasized that it was Sainz who wanted to make it clear to the world that he is fully committed to Williams.

The Spaniard expressed his desire to join a team that can provide him with a car capable of winning championships in the near future. However, Vowles denied rumors that Sainz’s contract includes exit clauses that would allow him to leave if a top team shows interest in him.

The details of the contract are known only to a select few individuals, and any information found online is mere speculation. Sainz has made it clear that he has no intention of taking a sabbatical from Formula 1 and would rather use his skills to help a midfield team improve rather than sit on the sidelines. He is determined to contribute his competitive nature and expertise to a team lower down the grid.
