Lando Norris insists he must prove himself as McLaren’s top driver after drama in Budapest.

Lando Norris has made errors at crucial points of a race for McLaren despite performing well throughout the season.

McLaren has been one of the strongest teams this season compared to Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari. The team, however, has not been able to reach the top of the world championship standings.

Lando Norris has earned 199 points for McLaren and is currently in second place in the driver’s championship. Despite his impressive performances, Norris has only won one race. His inability to achieve more victories can be attributed to his mistakes during important moments of a race.

The British driver has stated that he will reflect on his weaknesses and work on improving them during the summer break. Norris also admitted that he currently lacks the necessary skills to be a serious contender for the title this year.

Despite Norris’s tendency to make mistakes, he has occasionally demonstrated his potential in an F1 car. He will now focus on tapping into his abilities during the summer break in order to start fresh at the Dutch GP in Zandvoort.

The team principal of McLaren has downplayed the praises surrounding the team’s impressive performance this year. Stella believes that the top four teams, including Ferrari and Mercedes, have cars with similar speed and capability, considering the varying track conditions this season.

McLaren has been the first of the three teams, Ferrari and Mercedes included, to challenge Red Bull this season. Andrea Stella has stated that all four teams have their own advantages when considering factors such as tire usage and weather conditions.

The team based in Woking has made remarkable progress in the past 12 months, going from fighting for a top five position to winning multiple races this season. They will now aim to continue their upward trajectory, with hopes of securing their first championship victory since 2007.
