Eddie Jordan criticizes Audi for ‘incorrect’ strategy in Formula 1

Eddie Jordan wasted no time in highlighting the flaws of Audi’s highly promising Formula 1 project in the 2026 season. Audi has begun the process of entering Formula 1 for the 2026 season with great enthusiasm. The German automaker has already appointed a team leader, principal, and one driver for the team, making their prospects in the sport appear more like a reality. However, the former Formula 1 team owner criticized the team’s misguided approach to entering the grid.

The German carmaker recently named an individual as the leader of the project, with another individual serving as the principal. Additionally, a driver has been selected to compete for the team starting next season, even before Audi’s official entry. Despite these developments, Eddie Jordan did not hesitate to point out the flaws in the team’s plan to operate from a factory in Switzerland.

By choosing to base their manufacturing in the UK, Audi made a significant error in judgment. While this decision allowed for quicker access to materials, it also meant that the factory in Switzerland could not provide a clear timeline for starting the work. This fundamental mistake is hindering Audi’s path to entering Formula 1.

Audi’s plan to enter Formula 1 involves acquiring and rebranding Sauber. However, the Swiss constructor has experienced significant setbacks in the 2024 season. Eddie Jordan did not hold back in expressing his disappointment with Sauber’s failure to score any points in the past 14 races. This lack of success has been a major embarrassment for the team.

In order to attract top-tier drivers, Sauber must continue to improve their chassis and accumulate points. With one seat still vacant for the upcoming season, the Swiss-based constructor will need to carefully consider the best available driver on the grid.
