Nissan lança Qashqai Black Edition

Nissan has now revealed that it has already sold 100,000 vehicles with the e-Power propulsion system since its launch in September 2022. The Japanese brand has announced that to date, 65,367 Qashqai and 34,663 X-Trail equipped with this type of electrified powertrain have been sold in Europe.

What sets the e-Power powertrain apart is the fact that the wheels are exclusively driven by an electric motor, while the gasoline engine is only used to generate electricity, which charges the vehicle’s battery, which powers the electric motor that drives the wheels.

When little energy is needed to drive the vehicle and when the battery has sufficient charge, the electric motor that moves the wheels uses only the electricity from the battery. If more power is needed, the combustion engine generates electricity to power the electric motor and charge the battery.

When maximum power is required, the electric motor consumes electricity from both the gasoline engine and the battery. In addition, whenever possible, energy regeneration occurs, which is sent back to the battery.

Remember that this exclusive Nissan powertrain system consists of a high-power battery complemented by a variable compression ratio turbocharged gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.5 liters, capable of delivering 156 hp, a power generator, inverter, and a 140kW electric motor, similar in size and power to those found in Nissan electric vehicles.

“The e-Power system is a key component of Nissan’s electrification strategy, representing the option for customers who are not yet ready to switch to a 100% electric vehicle but still want to enjoy the worry-free progress that only an electric motor propulsion system can provide,” said David Moss, Senior Vice President, Research and Development, AMIEO region at Nissan.
