Aston Martin will join the World Endurance Championship (WEC) next year, and this month the testing program began – running with the Valkyrie AMR Pro at Silverstone, which serves as the starting point for the competition Valkyrie LMH.
Adam Carter, endurance racing director at Aston Martin, explained to Motorsport.com that it was an initial test of the systems. With low temperatures, the steering wheel was entrusted to a trusted driver who is part of the British manufacturer’s ranks.
For now, Aston Martin will work with the Valkyrie AMR Pro before hitting the track with the LMH. Carter explained: ‘It will be a very intensive test because the platform already exists, so we can attack strongly with some very focused objectives. We have very clear goals around what the tests are’.
The debut in the WEC in 2025 remains the plan, but it is only in the second quarter of the year that the Valkyrie LMH will hit the track for the first time. It will be a non-hybrid car, with a naturally aspirated V12 engine from Cosworth.
