Rodney Childers provided insight into the feelings of the SHR team regarding the sudden announcement made by the owners. The NASCAR Cup Series grid and fans were taken aback when the announcement was made that Stewart Haas Racing would cease operations at the end of the 2024 season. Along with selling three charters and a significant portion of their assets, the team will also be letting go of numerous crew members.

Gene Haas will retain one charter and continue in NASCAR with the Haas Factory team, with [driver] behind the wheel. They will also continue to run their Xfinity Series team starting next season. Recently, the crew chief of the No:4 SHR team, [name], shared how the 300 employees of SHR reacted to the decision.

Childers expressed his expectation that the team would lose one team but still operate as SHR. However, to his disappointment, this did not happen and shattered his hopes of continuing to serve the team he has been dedicated to for over a decade. He admitted that all 300 individuals working with the team were furious about the decision.

The No:4 team consisted of many of the top crew members at SHR, and Childers had hoped to bring them along to his new team. Unfortunately, this was not a feasible goal, despite being a fantastic proposal.

Childers is set to join Spire Motorsports next season and will lead the No:7 team. He has been given a fresh start as Spire will be parting ways with their experienced [driver]. It will be intriguing to see how Childers can maximize the team’s potential.
