How the Nissan Rogue Became Tennessee’s Coolest Ride!

In a thrilling competition that saw over 100 contenders vying for the title, the Nissan Rogue emerged victorious as the “Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee” for 2024. With an impressive three rounds of voting and more than 75,000 residents of the state casting their votes, the Rogue proved to be the ultimate favorite among compact crossover SUVs.

The Nissan Rogue has consistently been a top-seller for the Japanese automaker in the United States. Last year alone, over 271,000 customers chose this sleek and stylish vehicle, surpassing the previous year’s sales by an impressive 85,000 units. And the success story continues, with Nissan already selling over 141,000 examples of the Rogue this year.

For the 2024 model year, Nissan has made significant updates to the Rogue. Notably, it is the first Nissan model to come equipped with Google built-in integration directly into the vehicle. With Google Assistant and Google Maps at your fingertips, there’s no need to pair or plug in your phone. The features are conveniently displayed on a 12.3-inch color touchscreen, available for the SL and Platinum grades.

Safety is a top priority for Nissan, and the Rogue comes standard with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 on all grades. This comprehensive suite of safety features includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, and Rear Automatic Braking.

In addition, the Rogue offers advanced driver-assist technologies like ProPILOT Assist and ProPILOT Assist 1.1. The latter utilizes data from the navigation system to help adjust the vehicle’s speed ahead of freeway interchanges and curves. And there’s even more to look forward to in the 2025 model year, with the introduction of ProPILOT Assist 2.1 and the Invisible Hood View, perfect for off-roading adventures.

The Nissan Rogue is proudly produced at the Smyrna production center in Tennessee, the first auto assembly plant in the state. Alongside the Rogue, this facility also manufactures other popular Nissan models such as the electric LEAF, Murano, Pathfinder, and the Infinity QX60. With over 5,700 employees working tirelessly, the Smyrna plant has a production capacity of 500,000 vehicles, making it one of Nissan’s largest factories in the world.

The power behind the Rogue comes from the state-of-the-art Nissan Descherd Powertrain Plant, located in Decherd, Tennessee. With an investment of $1.4 billion, this plant produces the Rogue’s VC-Turbo engine, a groundbreaking variable compression ratio engine with 201 horsepower. Since its establishment in 1997, the Decherd plant has been assembling engines, including four-, six-, and eight-cylinder variants. Additionally, it is responsible for manufacturing the electric motors that propel the LEAF EV.

The Nissan Rogue truly shines as a testament to Tennessee’s manufacturing prowess. With its impressive features, cutting-edge technology, and top-notch safety, it’s no wonder that this compact crossover SUV has claimed the title of the “Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee” for 2024.
