Volkswagen equipa novos modelos com a última geração do sistema de alerta de abertura de portas

If another road user is approaching from behind as an occupant is exiting the vehicle, the exit warning system can issue warnings in various stages.

The latest Volkswagen models now feature the latest generation of the door opening warning system, which helps to prevent dangerous situations when exiting the vehicle, especially in urban traffic scenarios.

The assistance system can alert the driver and passengers to the detection of movement near the Volkswagen. For example, within the range of the sensors, the system can detect the approach of cyclists or pedestrians.

In the case of the new ID.7, the system analyzes the area behind the car through two rear sensors (placed on the left and right in the bumper) and informs the occupants of the proximity of danger before a door handle is activated.

An LED light on the exterior rearview mirror automatically lights up as the first level of warning in response to movement detection. Despite this, if one of the door opening commands is pressed, the door is also prevented from opening for a short period of time. If the door is opened, an acoustic signal is emitted. The assistance system remains active and vigilant for three minutes after the Volkswagen ID.7 has been parked and turned off in order to cover all passengers exiting the vehicle.

In the case of the new Passat and Tiguan, the system works in a very similar way to the ID.7, but does not have the door opening delay function, as both models are equipped with mechanical locks.

The door opening warning system is also optionally available in the ID.4 and ID.5 models. It works in a practically identical way to the ID.7, with one exception: in this case, the LED light on the exterior rearview mirror is only activated in a dangerous situation when passengers activate one of the door handles. The other warning levels – the acoustic signal on the respective door and the electronic opening delay – are identical to those of the ID.7.
