Seb Priaulx, who previously raced for the leading AO Racing team in the GTD PRO championship, will no longer be part of the team. Instead, Julien Andlauer will be partnering with Laurin Heinrich for the upcoming Road America round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Andlauer will be taking over Priaulx’s role as the driver of the No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R. For the Road America race, the No. 77 car will sport a pink livery called “Roxy” instead of its usual green “Rexy” design. Andlauer expressed his enthusiasm about joining the AO Racing Team and is eager to contribute to their success in the championship. Although he is unfamiliar with the Road America track, he believes it will be an incredible circuit and hopes it will suit their beautiful Roxy car. He is determined to give his best performance and is excited to work with the entire team.
Julien Andlauer is a well-known figure in the motorsport community. He has achieved notable victories at prestigious events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Asian Le Mans Series, and the European Le Mans Series. Furthermore, he has won championships in both the Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2017 and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in 2019. AO Racing Team Principal Gunnar Jeannette expressed his excitement about Andlauer joining the team for the Road America race. He highlighted their previous encounters with Andlauer in various championships worldwide and is eager to witness his performance with the Roxy car at their home race.
AO Racing has been leading the GTD PRO championship due to the impressive achievements of Heinrich and Priaulx, who have secured two victories. However, Priaulx, who is also a contracted driver for Multimatic Motorsports, had to leave the team due to increased commitments. Andlauer will be joining the team for the Road America round, but the driver for the remaining races at VIR, Indianapolis, and Motul petit Le Mans has yet to be announced.
The upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Road America on August 4 will be a 2-hour and 40-minute sprint race. This will be the only race of the season where all four classes will be present. The race will be livestreamed on Peacock starting at 3 p.m. Eastern on August 4.
