Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance: um descapotável com prestações de desportivo

A Mercedes-AMG presented the SL 63 S E Performance, the most powerful convertible ever from the star’s house, with 816 hp and 1420 Nm, resulting from the combination of the 612 hp and 850 Nm delivered by the well-known 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that equips several of its models, with the 204 hp and 320 Nm provided by the electric motor installed on the rear axle.

Values that translate into a 0-100 km/h acceleration completed in 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of 317 km/h, and to achieve this, the Speedshift MCT 9G pilot-driven gearbox, with double clutch and nine speeds, as well as the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system, the Active Ride Control suspension, with active control of body roll, and the rear-wheel steering system, also contribute.

On the other hand, the 400 V electric motor, with technology derived from that used in Formula 1 cars, is powered by a high-performance 6.1 kWh capacity battery, capable of providing a range of up to 13 km in 100% electric mode, and can be charged through the 3.7 kW on-board charger – while the energy recovery system, also similar to that used in F1, allows recovering up to 100 kW, through four levels of energy recovery intensity.

The new SL 63 SE Performance has eight driving modes: Electric, Battery Hold, Comfort, Smoothness, Sport, Sport+, Race, and Individual. Each of these modes can be activated directly in the infotainment system or on the steering wheel, and they allow adjusting various parameters such as steering, dampers, accelerator, as well as the sound of the exhaust system from the roadster.

In addition, the Mercedes-AMG engineers have also equipped the SL 63 E Performance with a series of active aerodynamic solutions, among which the carbon front profile stands out (reacts to the selected driving modes, automatically extending down about 40 mm from 80 km/h, in order to create the so-called Venturi effect, which pushes the “car” onto the road) and the extendable rear deflector, equipped with five new positions.

To brake this powerful 2+2 type cabriolet, the carbon-ceramic discs, included as standard, have a diameter of 420 mm and six-piston calipers at the front, and a diameter of 380 mm at the rear, “hidden” behind 20” wheels (optionally, 21”).

In addition to its high dynamic potential, the new Mercedes-AMG convertible also stands out for its muscular image, with several red details, a large diffuser, and two trapezoidal-shaped dual exhaust tips at each end of the rear bumper.

In the cabin, this convertible maintains the 2+2 configuration and is equipped with AMG sports seats, which can be in Nappa leather in one or two tones, which are equipped with electric adjustment and can be combined with the Energizing Plus package, which adds massage functions and ambient lighting.

It is also worth noting the MBUX infotainment system, with a series of graphics specific to this plug-in hybrid version, which allows real-time visualization of the energy flows of the combustion and electric motors.

Mercedes-AMG also points out that thanks to the Manufaktur customization program, it is also possible to add special changes to the interior and exterior of the new SL63 S E Performance.
