The Christmas and New Year campaign of the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), “The best gift is being present”, starts this Wednesday, December 13 and will run until January 2, 2024, for all those who travel on the roads and streets to do so safely during this Christmas and New Year season.
The campaign, which features “harsher” images than previous editions, reveals the other side of the consequences of accidents, namely what happens in hospitals and will be present in various media outlets.
The ANSR also revealed that during the campaign period, awareness, prevention, and enforcement actions by the National Republican Guard, Public Security Police, and National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority will take place on the roads, starting on December 15.
It should be noted that according to provisional data, revealed by the agency “Lusa”, between January 1 and December 11 of this year, the PSP and GNR recorded 123,391 road accidents, resulting in 442 fatalities, 2,279 serious injuries, and 38,548 minor injuries.
Compared to the same period in 2022, there were 7,556 more accidents recorded (6.5%), five more deaths (1.1%), 147 more serious injuries (6.8%), and 2,039 more minor injuries (5.5%).
