The highway tolls in the Brisa concession will increase by 2.1% starting from January 1st, according to the company’s statement.

The note sent to Lusa agency and quoted by RTP clarifies that the “update value is based on the reference, as stipulated in the concession contract, of the year-on-year inflation rate – mainland excluding housing – for October, and the additional 0.1% provided for in Decree-Law no. 87-A/2022, through which toll updates in 2023 were limited in accordance with the terms of the concession contracts”.

According to Brisa, despite the increase, “there are cases of toll rates that show a variation below or even null, while in other cases, toll rates show a variation above the average, as they have not been updated in previous years”. The highway concessionaire highlights that “only 33 out of the 93 toll rates applied to Class 1 vehicles will be updated”, and that “out of the total tolls applicable on the Brisa Motorways network, 40% will remain unchanged in 2024 compared to 2023”. Additionally, 65% of the Class 1 toll rates will maintain their 2023 values, as stated by Brisa.

The concessionaire also revealed several examples, with the price of a trip on the A1 between Lisbon and Porto increasing by 0.45 cents and on the A2 between Lisbon and the Algarve increasing by 0.30 cents, for Class 1 vehicles.

Among the routes whose prices remain unchanged is a trip on the A5 highway between Lisbon-Cascais or on the sub-section of the A4 between Ermesinde-Valongo.
