Ralf Schumacher says Audi made a major impact by hiring Mattia Binotto.

Ralf Schumacher emphasized that the arrival of Mattia Binotto at Audi could potentially persuade Carlos Sainz to join the German automaker. Schumacher, a former Formula 1 driver, commented on the recent announcement regarding Audi’s entry into the sport. He expressed his surprise and significance of Binotto’s signing before the new season, highlighting the Italian’s extensive experience and knowledge in Formula 1. Schumacher believed that Binotto’s expertise would be crucial for Audi’s success in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.

Schumacher also pointed out that Binotto had a strong affinity for Carlos Sainz, who had previously been rumored to join Audi. He suggested that Binotto’s hiring may have had political motivations, as it could be seen as a way to support individuals with connections and positive experiences with Sainz. Binotto and Sainz had previously worked together at Ferrari and had a good relationship. Schumacher believed that these positive connections and past experiences could potentially persuade Sainz to join Audi.

In addition, Schumacher highlighted internal conflicts within Audi. He mentioned that the chairman of the Board of Directors of Sauber, who is leaving the company, had attempted to remove Binotto from his role. Schumacher speculated that these internal battles may have influenced the decision-making process regarding Binotto’s appointment, which in turn affected Audi’s team management choices.

Schumacher also acknowledged that the recent changes within Audi were likely unexpected for Andreas Seidl, who may have been surprised by the situation. However, he expressed confidence in Binotto’s abilities, stating that the 54-year-old is skilled and capable. Schumacher recognized that managing the team initially would pose a significant challenge for Binotto.

Despite not being involved in Formula 1 for the past two years, Schumacher firmly believed in Binotto’s abilities. He expressed optimism that the former Ferrari principal would lead the team more effectively than his predecessor. Fans eagerly anticipate seeing how Binotto manages the German outfit.
