Koenigsegg vai mesmo produzir o Gemera com motor V8

Koenigsegg has decided to end the three-cylinder engine, which was chosen to equip the Gemera, the brand’s first four-seater supercar.

The confirmation was made by Christian von Koenigsegg, CEO of the company, in an interview with the “Top Gear Magazine” podcast, which made it clear that the three-cylinder internal combustion engine will be replaced by a V8.

Remember that the Gemera was initially presented with a gasoline, twin-turbo, three-cylinder architecture and 2.0-liter engine with 600 hp of power and a torque of 600 Nm, combined with three axial flow electric motors, which increased the total power to 1700 hp and a maximum torque of 3500 Nm, and could still travel up to 50 km in 100% electric mode.

However, the choice of a three-cylinder engine was not pleasing to the brand’s customers, who were accustomed to seeing Koenigsegg models equipped with a V8.

This way, the Swedish brand will indeed replace the three-cylinder engine with a 5.0-liter V8, which produces 1298 hp and a maximum torque of 1500 Nm. With the V8 combined with the hybrid technology of three electric motors, the Gemera now has a combined power output of 2300 hp.

It is certain that Christian von Koenigsegg will not completely abandon the three-cylinder engine, having advanced that the brand will continue to work on this engine and that one of these days it may equip a new version of the Gemera.

For now, it is certain that the four-seater supercar will use a V8 and that the production of the powerful Gemera is scheduled to start later this year, with the first deliveries of the 300 units that the brand will produce expected in 2025.
