Max Verstappen states he and Lando Norris have agreed to ‘compete fiercely’ despite dispute over Austrian Grand Prix collision.

Max Verstappen and Lando Norris collided with each other during a racing incident on lap 64 of the Austrian GP. The collision resulted in punctures to both their cars, forcing Norris to retire early due to more extensive damage to his MCL38.

Since the incident, there has been a heated debate between McLaren and Red Bull, with each team blaming the other driver for the crash. However, Verstappen and Norris have resolved their differences and have spoken openly about the incident leading up to the British Grand Prix.

Verstappen expressed regret for the incident but emphasized that he and Norris are both competitive drivers who thrive on racing closely and aggressively. They understand the risks involved and have agreed to continue pushing each other on the track.

As the championship leader, Verstappen currently holds an 81-point advantage over Norris, who is a strong contender this season. With the final race of the triple-header approaching, both drivers will be aiming to put on a thrilling performance at Silverstone and reclaim the top positions.

Norris, in particular, is eager to secure his second career win in Formula 1, following his victory in Miami earlier this year. Verstappen empathizes with Norris’s desire for success and recognizes the emotions involved in such competitive moments.

During a media interaction at Silverstone, Norris clarified his perspective on the incident. He admitted that his reaction was fueled by adrenaline and frustration. Verstappen, in a humble manner, supported Norris’s decision to make the move, acknowledging that he would have done the same in his pursuit of his own first wins.

Despite the incident, Verstappen and Norris have maintained a strong friendship since their early days in karting. They have demonstrated clean but intense racing throughout the season. While they aim to avoid further incidents, their ultimate goal remains winning on the track.
