FIRST-EVER ELECTRIC MINI JCW STORMS GOODWOOD FOS!

The electric hot hatch is set to make its debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed next week. Dubbed the MINI John Cooper Works E PROtotype, the car will showcase its capabilities by tackling the famous hill climb. Although it will be presented in motion, the full unveiling of the new MINI JCW E PROtotype will take place later this year. MINI reminds fans that the JCW lineup will offer both battery-electric and gasoline models.

The 2025 MINI JCW, on the other hand, is a mid-cycle refresh of the current model. It features updated design elements such as new headlights, a larger grille, different taillights, a new spoiler, a large diffuser, and glossy black cladding. Powering the new model is a re-tuned TwinPower Turbo engine, the exact output of which is yet to be revealed. However, it is expected to be more powerful than its predecessor, which delivers 228 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque. The updated hot hatch will be available with both a stick shift and a self-shifting transmission.

MINI plans to unveil the ICE-powered 2025 John Cooper Works hot hatch later this fall. It is anticipated that the first units will arrive in the United States for the 2025 model year. While the revised model may come with a slightly higher price tag than the current version, which starts at $35,400, deliveries are likely to begin early next year in the US and late 2024 internationally. As for the electric version, MINI has not yet announced a specific release date, but it is expected to coincide with the launch of the ICE-powered model.

In addition to the new electric hot hatch, MINI will also showcase other vehicles at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. These include the Countryman, the Aceman, and the Cooper, which will be presented in both three-door and five-door variants. The Cooper Electric will also be highlighted in the Electric Avenue section. Are you considering switching from the traditional ICE-powered MINI JCW to the electric version?
