Ampere é a nova “start-up” da Renault que vai produzir carros elétricos acessíveis
The Renault Group intends to reduce battery costs for its electric vehicles by about 20% in order to be competitive. To achieve this, Ampere, the European operator of intelligent electric vehicles within the French automotive group, has announced that it will integrate lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology into its electric vehicle platforms, along with the current nickel-cobalt-manganese process. In this regard, Ampere will work with LG Energy Solution and CATL to create an integrated value chain in Europe, ensuring the best competitiveness of LFP technology for its vehicles manufactured in Europe. These two partners will supply Ampere with LFP batteries that will be used in various models of Renault and Alpine brands, covering battery needs with this technology until 2030. Ampere’s teams are also leading the development of Cell-to-Pack technology with LG Energy Solution. This cutting-edge innovation is the world’s first for pouch-type batteries. It improves vehicle autonomy by integrating more cells and therefore more energy on board. Cell-to-Pack technology also helps reduce battery costs. The integration of these new technologies will allow Ampere to reduce battery costs for its vehicles by about 20% starting in early 2026.

“In a competitive and rapidly changing environment, our battery strategy is proof of Ampere’s efficient open and horizontal approach with the best partners, ensuring intelligent capital allocation, flexibility, and fast execution. This plan is in line with Ampere’s roadmap to reduce costs by 40% before the next generation of automobiles,” said Josep Maria Recasens, Chief Operating Officer of Ampere.
