Ogura vence corrida de Moto2 em Assen.

Headline: Pirelli Moto2 race at the ‘Cathedral of Speed’ in Assen ends with Ai Ogura’s victory

In an exciting Moto2 race at the famous ‘Cathedral of Speed’ in Assen, Ai Ogura from MT Helmets held off a late attack from Fermin Aldeguer from SpeedUp to claim the victory. This win propelled Ogura to second position in the Moto2 standings.

At the start of the race, Aldeguer, Ogura, Tony Arbolino, and Sergio Garcia battled for positions. However, Garcia dropped to fifth place after swapping positions with Alonso Lopez. On the second lap, Lopez and Ogura exchanged positions to secure third and fourth place, respectively.

Aldeguer, the future recruit of Ducati MotoGP in 2025, quickly built a half-second advantage in the early laps. Ogura and Garcia, both riding for MT Helmets, led the rest of the pack. Garcia attempted to overtake his teammate, giving Aldeguer the opportunity to extend his lead to half a second in the first five laps.

Aldeguer received a warning for exceeding track limits, putting him at risk of a possible penalty. Meanwhile, local hero Zonta van den Goorbergh crashed out of the race, disappointing the home fans. Aron Canet and Alberto Arenas also had separate accidents, eliminating their chances of a good result.

Ayumu Sasaki, Moto3 runner-up in 2023, crashed again after colliding with Mario Aji’s machine from the Idemitsu Team Asia. This incident forced Sasaki off the track and into the gravel trap.

Aldeguer continued to increase his lead, reaching 1.3 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Behind the MT Helmets duo, Arbolino and Lopez battled for fourth and fifth place. Ogura’s speed became evident on the 13th lap, as he was two tenths faster than Aldeguer. He overtook his teammate after a small mistake in Turn 13.

With nine laps remaining, Aldeguer once again exceeded the track limits, resulting in a long lap penalty. He served the penalty two laps later and returned to the race half a second behind Garcia. Dixon moved up to fourth place but was unable to catch the leading trio.

The MT Helmets duo, Garcia and Ogura, exchanged the lead several times in the last five laps. This allowed Aldeguer to rejoin the battle and overtake Garcia on the next lap. Garcia’s chances of victory diminished when he went off track at Turn 1. Ogura maintained the lead on the final lap, securing his second win of the season and moving up to second place in the championship.

Aldeguer finished in second place, securing his first podium since his victory in Jerez. Garcia came in third, extending his lead in the championship standings. Dixon recovered from a difficult start and finished in fourth place. Thai rider Somkiat Chantra impressed with a fifth-place finish for the Honda Team Asia Idemitsu.

Marcos Ramirez finished seventh for the American Racing team, while Lopez, Manuel Gonzalaz, Senna Agius, and Celestino Vietti completed the top eleven. Dennis Foggia earned his second point of the season by finishing in twelfth place. Jacob Alcoba and Bo Bendsneyder followed in thirteenth and fourteenth place, respectively. Darryn Binder secured the final point by finishing in fifteenth place, six seconds behind Bendsneyder.
