In an interview with the press, including GrandPrix247, Alonso expressed his disappointment with his performance. He acknowledged that the lack of speed throughout the weekend contributed to the failure to score points. The race was particularly challenging due to excessive sliding in the corners, which also caused tire wear.
Alonso attributed the problems to the lack of downforce and pure load on his AMR24 car. He acknowledged that the upcoming races in Austria and Silverstone will present similar challenges. Instead of getting frustrated, he emphasized the need to work harder and deliver better results.
Despite bringing improvements to the car, Aston Martin did not see the desired improvements. Alonso expressed his anticipation for future updates but emphasized the importance of them delivering the expected results.
When asked why the updates didn’t work, Alonso simply stated that he is a driver, not a technician.
Currently, Alonso is in ninth place in the 2024 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship with 41 points. Aston Martin is in fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship with 58 points.
