Sergio Perez reconhece McLaren como a equipe mais poderosa após o Grande Prêmio da Espanha.

McLaren has experienced significant progress since the implementation of the Miami upgrade package. The Spanish Grand Prix weekend started with the expectation that Red Bull Racing could face difficulties. McLaren made considerable strides in the Canadian Grand Prix and seemed ready to challenge the Austrian team. However, after McLaren’s impressive performance in the Spanish Grand Prix, it was declared that they are currently the strongest team on the track.

During qualifying, McLaren achieved a remarkable pole position, beating their competitors by just two hundredths of a second. This unexpected result surprised Red Bull Racing and posed a threat to their championship reign. In light of McLaren’s impressive performance in Spain, Sergio Perez stated that McLaren is currently the fastest team.

Perez emphasized the importance of maximizing balance rather than relying solely on upgrades. Despite finishing in eighth place in the Spanish Grand Prix, Perez acknowledged that McLaren’s performance was superior to that of Red Bull Racing. This perception led Red Bull Racing to prioritize improving the balance of their RB20 car and implementing upgrades in the near future.

Although Perez acknowledged McLaren’s speed, Max Verstappen had to fiercely fight for victory. Verstappen attributed his success to an aggressive strategy and explained that Red Bull Racing unexpectedly found themselves at a disadvantage. He attributed this setback to regulations, noting that as the current champion, Red Bull Racing had less available time in the wind tunnel for development compared to other teams.

While Verstappen attributed the team’s drop in performance to the regulations, he shared his teammate’s belief that updates are necessary for the RB20. However, due to cost cap restrictions, Red Bull Racing faces obstacles in their pursuit of progress and updates.
