Norris: McLaren ‘100%’ de confiança máxima após garantir pole position no Grande Prêmio da Espanha de F1.

Norris and McLaren’s confidence are high after securing pole position in the Spanish Grand Prix. Since Norris’ first victory in Miami in May, both McLaren and the British driver have reached new heights. Norris’ last-minute pole lap in Barcelona on Saturday came after several close attempts at victory in Imola, Monaco, and Canada. From the team’s perspective, confidence is at 100%. Norris had previously stated that he would challenge Red Bull and prevent their domination, and this ended up happening exactly as he predicted, which is a positive result for everyone involved.

However, Norris believes that there is still more work to be done. He does not believe they had the best car on the track that day. Despite this, he feels that he executed a perfect lap, securing pole position by a margin of just 0.020s over Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. It is challenging to determine the differences between the drivers’ achievements when the top 10 are all performing at such a high level.

The qualifying saw less than four tenths of a second separating the top six drivers, and the nine drivers who set a time in Q3 were all within one second of each other. This supports Norris’ claim that the competition at the top of Formula 1 is as intense as ever. Norris has confidence in his team and his own abilities. He believes his pole position came from extracting maximum performance from himself, something he has struggled with in previous qualifying sessions.

In the past few weeks, Norris mentioned his difficulty in finding that extra advantage during qualifying and getting stuck in his performance. However, he has been working hard with his team and using the simulator to improve in these areas. This weekend, he approached qualifying with a different mindset and feels more confident and in sync with the car. The car’s performance has been strong in recent months, aligning more closely with Norris’ preferences.

However, Norris remains cautious and acknowledges that the McLaren car is still not where he needs it to be for optimal confidence. They are actively working to improve it. Norris credits his team for providing him with the car that allowed him to secure pole position.
