This is another paragraph of text.

The 2026 regulations for Formula 1 introduced movable aerodynamics, according to the FIA. Carlos Sainz criticized the FIA for excessively meddling with these regulations. The proposed rules for chassis and aerodynamics were revealed before the Canadian Grand Prix. They were designed in response to the power unit regulations that have already been confirmed for 2022, which will feature a hybrid power unit with a 50/50 power split. A notable aspect of the proposed regulations is the inclusion of movable aerodynamics on the front and rear wings. This will allow cars to enter a “low drag” mode on the straight sections of the track, addressing concerns that the power units would require excessive energy conservation. Sainz expressed his belief that the regulations are becoming excessively complex, stating: “From what I’ve seen, it seems a bit exaggerated what we’re trying to do in ’26, everything, regarding the power unit, aerodynamics, we’re playing too much with things and manipulating aerodynamic pressure here and there.” However, he also acknowledged that the regulations have attracted manufacturers like Audi and kept Honda, which he considers positive for Formula 1. Sainz is not alone in his criticism, and the FIA has already announced its intention to consult with teams and make changes to the regulations based on their concerns. Another concern has been raised by Lando Norris, Sainz’s former teammate, who fears that the introduction of the new regulations will cause the field to spread out again, undoing the convergence that has occurred under the current rules. Sainz recognized that it is natural for a new set of rules to cause the field to spread out, but he believes that the 2026 regulations will be appropriately restrictive to quickly bring the field back together. He stated: “I think it’s no secret that when you bring such a different power unit that we’re bringing in ’26, along with different aerodynamics, tires, weight, car concept, I think it’s natural for the field to spread out again… But we kind of said the same thing about ’22 and look what happened. So they always seem to tighten, tighten and see if it works. I don’t know.”
