Helmut Marko vê McLaren, liderado por Lando Norris, como principal rival da Red Bull em 2024.

McLaren achieved a total of 212 points this season. Red Bull’s Technical Consultant, Helmut Marko, expressed admiration for McLaren’s impressive performances this season. Marko identified McLaren as Red Bull’s main rival in the ongoing campaign.

McLaren has shown a resurgence of form and currently occupies the position of the third fastest team on the grid, behind Ferrari and Red Bull. Despite being slightly behind the leaders, the British team has shown remarkable consistency, securing podium finishes in six out of the nine races this season.

Lando Norris, McLaren’s lead driver, achieved his first career victory this season in Miami. As a result, Helmut Marko considers McLaren, led by Norris, as a constant threat to Red Bull, regardless of the track or conditions.

McLaren is currently 89 points behind Red Bull in the constructors’ championship and aims to take advantage of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to surpass their rivals on Sunday. The next qualifying session will determine how McLaren compares to Red Bull and Ferrari, setting the stage for an exciting three-way battle in Formula 1.

McLaren’s CEO emphasizes the importance of focusing on winning every weekend, rather than just aiming for the championship title, which remains a more distant goal. Zak Brown reveals that McLaren must deal with the challenges posed by Ferrari, Red Bull, and even Mercedes, who have shown promising performances in the recent races.

McLaren had a positive practice session on Friday, with Lando Norris setting the fastest time in FP1 of the Spanish Grand Prix. The Woking team reportedly introduced a new update to their floor designs, seeking a competitive advantage over their competitors.

Zak Brown believes that McLaren must employ effective tactics and strategies to make the most of the opportunities presented in Barcelona. In Sunday’s race, Norris and the rest of the team will seek their second victory of the season, facing tough competition from Ferrari and Red Bull.
