Perez criticizes Red Bull for going off track during adjustments in FP2 at the Spanish Grand Prix of F1.

Perez critica Red Bull por sair da pista durante ajustes na FP2 no Grande Prêmio da Espanha da F1.

Perez struggles to find speed in his RB20 car during the second free practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix. Sergio Perez believes that Red Bull made some mistakes in the changes made to his car during the session. Perez is looking to recover from a difficult period, where he failed to finish in the top 10 in the last three races and scored only four points. Despite benefiting from the evolution of the track with a later lap, Perez finished 13th in the second free practice hour in Barcelona, falling outside the top 10. He attributes this drop to the configuration changes made to his car in FP2. Perez said, “I think we made too many changes and lost our way somewhere. We have a lot to analyze and I hope we can make the right adjustments for tomorrow.”

Perez will receive a three-place grid penalty for driving with a damaged car in Canada. He acknowledges that minimizing the damage will be crucial for his race. When asked about the importance of qualifying on a circuit where overtaking is difficult, Perez responded, “It’s super, super crucial. With the lack of overtaking on this track, it is important to qualify well and secure a good starting position for Sunday.”

Meanwhile, Perez’s teammate Max Verstappen had a strong practice session, finishing second in FP1 and fifth in FP2. Verstappen is not concerned with the order of the practice sessions and is pleased to not have encountered issues that plagued him in previous races. He mentioned that they are testing different configurations and are focused on adjusting the car. Verstappen also mentioned that the improvements brought by Red Bull for this weekend were minimal and everything seems normal so far.
