Norris vence Verstappen no primeiro treino do Grande Prêmio da Espanha.

Lando Norris, representing Great Britain, piloted the McLaren MCL38 car during the Spanish Grand Prix of the Formula 1 World Championship in Barcelona, Spain, on June 21, 2024.

During the free practice session, Norris achieved the fastest time, using soft tires and completing a lap in 1:14.228. This put him just 0.024 seconds ahead of world champion Max Verstappen, who also used the red compound tires for his best lap.

Verstappen, who previously won at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in 2016, is currently leading the championship with a 56-point advantage.

Carlos Sainz, driving for Ferrari, had a good start to his home race weekend by securing third position, with a lap time three tenths slower than Norris. Sainz achieved this time using medium tires.

George Russell, in fourth place, also opted for the yellow-banded tire for his timed lap. Sergio Perez and Oscar Piastri followed in fifth and sixth place, respectively, both using soft tires.

Lewis Hamilton, representing Mercedes, finished in seventh place, while Esteban Ocon brought cheer to Alpine by securing eighth place.

Fernando Alonso, driving for Aston Martin, had the only notable incident during the session. He went off track at turn 9, causing a small part of his AMR24 car to come loose after hitting the kerb. The race control briefly suspended the session to remove the debris from the track. Alonso was able to resume his program without further issues.

Alex Albon, from Williams, completed the top 10, followed by Charles Leclerc from Ferrari and Valtteri Bottas from Sauber.

Ollie Bearman returned to the Haas VF-24 car for his second of six planned practice sessions, as part of his audition for a driver position in 2025. He finished in 19th place, two tenths of a second behind his Haas teammate, Kevin Magnussen.
