Famin: Doohan could replace Ocon.

Alpine made an announcement before the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix that Ocon will not be driving for them in 2025. As a result, Doohan was given the opportunity to participate in FP1 in Montreal. Doohan, who achieved success in Formula 2 and was a runner-up in Formula 3, has been associated with Alpine since 2022 as part of their academy program. He then became a reserve driver for the Formula 1 team in 2023. There are speculations that the young Australian driver could replace Ocon in 2025, alongside Pierre Gasly, who is expected to continue with the French F1 team. When asked about Doohan’s chances of replacing Ocon, Famin from Alpine acknowledged that he is an option and that they are preparing him through a rigorous testing program. Famin did not comment on whether Doohan is the favorite for the Alpine seat in 2025. In the same interview, Famin explained the decision to part ways with Ocon, which was influenced by an incident in Monaco where Ocon collided with teammate Gasly and retired from the race. Famin emphasized that he is more focused on the future and upcoming races than past events. He expressed confidence in Ocon’s professionalism and highlighted their commitment to achieving the best possible results together for the remainder of the season.
