The current 2024 Formula 1 season has come to a temporary pause, and during this break, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz shared some interesting details about his weekend at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He underwent an emergency appendectomy, which was a critical situation for him.

Upon arriving at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Carlos Sainz was not in his best condition, and although he participated in the practice sessions on Friday, he had to withdraw afterwards. Ferrari had no choice but to bring in the talented young driver, who was competing in Formula 2 during the same weekend.

After a successful surgery in Jeddah, Sainz spoke about the difficult conversation he had with the doctors before the operation.

Carlos talked about being informed about his appendicitis and still trying to race on the same day: “They informed me about my appendicitis, and I immediately realized that I needed surgery, right? From Carlos Sainz’s reaction, it is evident that the 29-year-old driver was in a precarious situation during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend. Initially disappointed to miss the race in Jeddah, he eventually understood the seriousness of the situation and opted for surgery.

With 15 more races of the Grand Prix remaining in the current season, Carlos Sainz has not yet secured his future for the 2025 season. Since the start of the season, he has been linked to several teams, but for now, only two options remain for the Spanish driver.

It is highly likely that Sainz will join Kick Sauber (Audi) or Williams F1. The latter allegedly even offered him a four-year contract.

The driver market for the 2025 season has proven to be highly unpredictable. In recent weeks, many drivers have secured their future, and now it is crucial for Carlos Sainz to do the same.

He is considered a high-quality driver on the track, and the head of Williams has expressed his strong desire to have Sainz on his team on several occasions. The next week may bring more clarity on where Sainz will ultimately end up joining for the 2025 Formula 1 season.
