Robert Kubica maintains the lead at Le Mans for AF Corse Ferrari, six and a half hours into this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race. However, recent rain showers caused teams to switch to rain tires. Fortunately, the rain has stopped and the track is drying.

The Polish driver, competing in AF Corse’s Ferrari 499P #83, has a comfortable lead of over 50 seconds ahead of Fred Makowiecki in the Porsche 963 #5.

Ryo Hirakawa holds the third position in the Toyota GR010 Hybrid #8, trailing Makowiecki by an additional six seconds.

Nicklas Nielsen is in fourth place in the Ferrari 499P #50, a minute and a half behind the leader. He has just made a pit stop but chose not to switch to slick tires, as Ferrari has adopted different strategies.

All three cars made pit stops to switch to rain tires as the rain began to fall as predicted at 10 p.m.

Kubica, along with his teammates Robert Shwartzman and Yifei Ye in the Ferrari #83, has been leading the race for several hours. They have been engaged in a fierce battle with the two factory Ferraris, the Toyota #8, and the Porsche #5.

The Porsche #6 encountered a setback early in the race due to an unnecessary switch to rain tires. However, Laurens Vanthoor took the wheel and managed to recover in the last few hours.

While intense competition continues at the front, both Alpine cars have experienced reliability issues. The Alpine A424 #35 stopped on the track at Arnage, with Ferdinand Habsburg quickly exiting the car as smoke came out of the exhaust.

The other Alpine, Alpine #36, had to make a pit stop due to engine problems and is now positioned at the back of the pack, trailing by 33 laps.

In the LMP2 category, Stephane Richelmi leads the race in the Vector Sport Oreca 07-Gibson #10. He has maintained this position unchallenged in the last few hours. Currently, he enjoys a 50-second advantage over Bijoy Garg in the United Autosports Oreca 07-Gibson #22, while Malthe Jakobsen in the COOL Racing Oreca 07-Gibson #37 is trailing by an additional 20 seconds.

Joel Sturm leads the Manthey PureRxcing Porsche 911 GT3R #92, with a 54-second advantage over Maxime Martin in the WRT BMW M4 GT3 #46. However, Sturm has just made a pit stop and lost the lead, while Martin is scheduled to make a stop.

Daniel Serra in the GR Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 #86 holds the third position, trailing the second place by approximately 45 seconds.
