FIA changes rules for super license to avoid ‘another Max Verstappen scenario’ for Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

FIA altera regras para super licença para evitar ‘outro cenário Max Verstappen’ para Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli has the potential to surpass Max Verstappen’s achievement of obtaining a superlicense before the age of 18. Verstappen, who joined Formula 1 in 2014 at the age of 17, received a superlicense even before obtaining his regular driver’s license. This led the FIA to introduce a rule prohibiting drivers under the age of 18 from acquiring a superlicense. However, there may be a review of this rule to accommodate the highly anticipated young talent, Antonelli.

The talented Italian driver has made an impact in the world of Formula 1, attracting interest from teams like Mercedes and Williams. In fact, a special request was made to the FIA to allow the 17-year-old to make his debut before turning 18. As a result, the regulatory body responded to the teams’ appeals by introducing an additional clause in the International Sporting Code of Formula 1.

According to this new clause, the FIA has the discretion to grant a superlicense to a driver under the age of 18 if they demonstrate exceptional skill and maturity in handling Formula 1 cars. This means that Kimi Antonelli could potentially enter Formula 1 before his 18th birthday on August 25th. Furthermore, there are speculations that he could join the Brackley team next season, thanks to the inclusion of this clause in his favor.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s rise to success in junior karting categories has paved the way for his consideration in Formula 1. There are rumors of his debut as early as the next Spanish Grand Prix, although no official confirmation has been provided. Despite this, the Mercedes team boss has expressed support for Antonelli’s chances of securing a place in the sport.

Wolff believes that Antonelli deserves one of the top spots in motorsport. However, it seems that the Spaniard is not aligned with Mercedes’ new vision to reinvent itself. On the other hand, the Austrian mentioned that Antonelli played a significant role in Brackley’s plans to reinvent the entire team next season.

If Kimi Antonelli enters Formula 1, he is likely to break the record for the youngest driver, currently held by [Driver’s Name]. This would be a significant achievement if the Italian driver manages to secure a deal with any of the teams in the sport. Regardless, the upcoming season promises to be full of excitement as new drivers join different teams.
