Grade de largada do WEC vai aumentar para 40 carros, nova regra exige dois Hypercars

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has announced that starting from 2025, the grid for the FIA World Endurance Championship will be expanded from 37 to 40 cars. Additionally, each Hypercar manufacturer will be required to have a minimum of two cars in their lineup.

During the annual press conference before the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15-16, the ACO and WEC confirmed two significant modifications for the upcoming years.

Most of the Hypercar teams are not affected by the requirement of two cars, as they already have two cars for their programs.

As a result, Lamborghini Iron Lynx will present a lineup of two SC63 cars next year.

For their debut at Le Mans in the top category, they have brought both their WEC and IMSA Endurance Cup cars and teams to the renowned French race.

However, it’s important to note that for the remainder of the season, they will continue as planned with only entry #63 and drivers Mirko Bortolotti, Daniil Kvyat, and Edoardo Mortara.

It’s worth mentioning Isotta Fraschini, a custom manufacturer, who currently only has one Type 6-C car. They have not yet confirmed or responded to the recently announced requirement.

Imola, which will remain on the WEC calendar until 2028, will increase the number of its garages from 37 to 40 to accommodate any future expansions.
