Sebastien Baud expressed his excitement, stating: “This is truly wonderful because it’s my lifelong dream. I’m thrilled to be here with Corvette as I’m a big fan of their cars. I come to Le Mans every year, witnessing Corvette’s victories in both the championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s amazing to be a part of this French race, which is also my home race. We’re having a lot of fun and I’m fully immersed in this moment. The first part of the track is particularly enjoyable, with the famous [Dunlop] Chicane hill. During the night practice, we tackle the Porsche Curves and return to the last part of the track. It’s absolutely insane, especially the fast corner, which can be a bit risky as it’s so close to the wall. Personally, I love it because it gives me an adrenaline rush.”
The 23-year-old driver also shared his personal connection with Corvette, recalling how he grew up in the region and used to collect autographs from the Corvette team when he was younger. Now, for the FIA World Endurance Championship season, he finds himself behind the wheel of the new Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which debuted in 2024.
The Corvette has been a constant presence at Le Mans since the 1960s, with its iconic Stingray making appearances. However, it was their factory sports car program starting in 1999 that truly established a loyal foundation for General Motors’ presence in the prestigious French race, with the exception of 2020. In 2024, TF Sport made the transition from Aston Martin to Corvette, bringing along their new GT3 car. Baud’s teammate, Daniel Juncadella, secured a third place in qualifying, and TF Sport’s #82 team is determined to secure their first Hyperpole position in a Corvette. Hiroshi Koizumi will also gain valuable experience before the race on June 15-16.
