Sebastien Baud expressed his excitement, stating: “This is truly wonderful because it fulfills my lifelong dream”. The Frenchman also shared his admiration for the Corvette, saying: “I have always been a big fan of the Corvette and have been attending the Le Mans race every year to witness its victories and championship achievements, especially last year’s triumph at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s amazing to be a part of this French race, which is also my home race, and I am having a lot of fun. I am fully immersed in this moment”.
Baud described his favorite parts of the track, highlighting the famous Dunlop Chicane hill and the thrilling final section. He mentioned the Porsche Curves and the electrifying speed of the corner, acknowledging the slight danger of being so close to the wall. However, he expressed his love for the adrenaline rush it provides.
As a local, the 23-year-old reminisced about his childhood memories of seeking autographs from the Corvette team. Now, for the FIA World Endurance Championship season, he finds himself behind the wheel of the new Corvette Z06 GT3.R launched in 2024.
The Corvette has been a constant presence at Le Mans since the 1960s, with the iconic Stingray leaving its mark. However, it was the factory sports car program that really caught attention, starting in 1999 and participating in every edition of the French classic except in 2020.
In 2024, TF Sport switched from Aston Martin to Corvette, specifically opting for the new GT3 car. Baud’s teammate, Daniel Juncadella, secured a third place in qualifying, and the #82 TF Sport team is determined to secure their first Hyperpole position in a Corvette. Hiroshi Koizumi will also gain valuable experience before the race on June 15th and 16th.
