Lewis Hamilton, the British driver for Mercedes AMG in Formula 1, expressed his disappointment with his performance in the Canadian Grand Prix. He described it as one of the worst races he has ever done. Despite this, Hamilton managed to secure fourth place, his best result so far this year.
Hamilton attributed his below-par performance to a series of errors and a poor grid position. He found himself stuck behind Fernando Alonso in the early stages of the race, but managed to overtake him during the pit stops under a Safety Car period. He then took advantage of a collision between George Russell and Oscar Piastri to move up the standings.
However, Russell, his teammate, used his medium tires to his advantage and eventually overtook Hamilton to secure Mercedes’ first podium of the season. Reflecting on his race, Hamilton admitted that if he had qualified better, his position would have been stronger.
Despite his disappointment, Hamilton acknowledged the progress made by Mercedes in terms of car performance. He thanked the team for their efforts in developing a competitive car and expressed optimism for the upcoming races. He believes that with the right mindset and possible improvements, he will achieve better results in the future.
