Ricciardo makes a strong statement on the track during the VCARB race in Montreal. Despite being criticized by Villeneuve before the race, Ricciardo qualified in fifth place for the Red Bull junior team. When asked about Villeneuve’s comments, Ricciardo replied: “I still don’t know what he said, but I heard he’s talking as he always does. It seems like he took a few too many hits to the head, maybe he plays ice hockey or something.”

Villeneuve, former F1 champion and son of racing legend Gilles Villeneuve, expressed his frustration with Ricciardo during a broadcast on Sky Sports. He questioned why Ricciardo is still in F1 and criticized his ongoing excuses. Villeneuve suggested that if Ricciardo can’t perform well, he should step aside and let someone else take his place.

Ricciardo, who has won eight F1 races in his career, reflected on his motivation and the importance of the race in Montreal. He expressed his desire to achieve more success and described the joy he feels when achieving positive results. He also mentioned that the race marked the 10th anniversary of his first F1 victory, which had a profound impact on his life.

Although Ricciardo’s future in F1 is uncertain, VCARB confirmed that Yuki Tsunoda will continue to drive for the team next season. Despite the criticism, Ricciardo remained optimistic and smiled at reporters after his excellent performance in qualifying. Villeneuve jokingly acknowledged that his criticisms may have motivated Ricciardo to perform well under pressure.
