Russell Claims Pole Position in an Exciting Qualifying Session!

Featuring pole position winner George Russell from Mercedes, second-placed Max Verstappen from Red Bull, and Lando Norris from McLaren in third place. Trackside interviews were conducted by Jolyon Palmer.

In an interview, George Russell expressed his excitement at securing pole position. He emphasized the hard work done by the team at the factory and hoped this would mark the beginning of a successful season. Russell also mentioned how much he missed the feeling of being in the lead.

The crowd in Montreal showed enthusiasm at seeing a Mercedes car back at the top, giving Russell a big round of applause. When asked about the source of his impressive speed, Russell credited the energy of the fans and expressed his anticipation for the upcoming race.

Confidently, Russell stated he believed he could keep Max Verstappen behind him and was determined to chase the victory. He mentioned the car had been performing exceptionally well since the team made improvements in Monaco.

Max Verstappen, who secured the second position, acknowledged there was little difference between his performance and Russell’s. Despite the tie, Verstappen considered his qualifying session good overall. He expressed excitement for the race and the potential for an exciting competition.

Verstappen compared the current race to the previous one in Monaco, stating that this time the Red Bull team felt more comfortable and prepared. He anticipated an intriguing race due to unpredictable weather conditions and tire performance.

When asked about his strategy for the race, Verstappen admitted he had not yet made a firm decision and was not feeling stressed about it.

Lando Norris, who secured third place, expressed a slight disappointment at being only two hundredths behind pole position. However, he congratulated Russell and Mercedes for their performance. Norris was pleased with his own result and eagerly awaited the race.

Norris described the qualifying session as challenging, with the constant threat of rain. He emphasized the need to stay focused and not make mistakes. Despite the difficulties, Norris expressed his love for the Montreal circuit and the enjoyable experience it provides.

Norris reflected on the exciting nature of the session and his satisfaction at achieving a position among the top three. He mentioned the possibility of overtaking in tomorrow’s race and expressed confidence in his car’s performance. Norris anticipated an exciting show with fast drivers both ahead and behind him.
